There is a song called The Drummer Boy that has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a young child. It tells the story of a little boy who is summoned to go before a new King and bring his finest gift. The little boy has no gift to bring, so he plays his drum. And he plays his best for him.
This story represents the idea that some gifts are truly priceless.
If you still are not sure what to get your loved ones this Christmas; or if you want to ring in the New Year with a clean slate and get around to those things you have put off; or if you know in your heart that you need to have these conversations, I suggest giving the gift of advanced directives.
If you commit to an advance directive package before the end of the year, my gift to you is to include a second person at no additional cost.
The Advanced Directive Package includes:
• A personalized review of Questions to Ask Yourself, a document which prepares you for important healthcare decisions and choices by reviewing your current values and beliefs as well as future health concerns
• Designation of a Power of Attorney for Healthcare
• Completion of a Living Will outlining your decisions regarding life-support, comfort care and after death planning
• Up to 4 hours of personal consultation
This gift is truly an experience. And one that will bring peace of mind.
“May no gift be too small to give, nor too simple to receive, which is wrapped in thoughtfulness, and tied in love.” – L.O. Baird
